Why FasterCraft? It all started with a common situation.
6pm – I get home from work, and I have from 6-9:30 to craft. That’s right, the entire glorious evening is mine. And I’m excited! I’ve got a stash of craft supplies that is threatening to overflow, and I’ve got the time to use them! I won’t need to spend any money, and I’ll be creating space! Husband/partner/child/roommate will be so happy to have the dining room table/end table/shelf/box cleared!
6:05 – I get out everything I need for my project and realize that I’m missing one thing. No problem! I’ll just run to the craft store and grab it and I’ll be back in a half an hour.
9:15 – I walk back in the house with two bags of new supplies. I know I only meant to buy that one thing, but something happens when I enter a craft store. A sort of trance. And there was a sale and I have been thinking about getting into jewelry making/knitting/scrapbooking/sewing and the supplies were all on sale and so I got what I think is everything I’ll need. I’ll find someplace to store this stuff. Maybe under the bed, or if that’s full, someone else’s bed. I spent more than I meant to, but I’ll just take my lunch to work for a week or two. I can finish that project… next week?
Maybe this doesn’t sound familiar, but I know that for me it’s a common occurance. I leave the house with the best of intentions. I’m hardly going to spend anything, I’m going to get so much done, I’m going to make space… and I end up with less time, less money, and more guilt.
This is why I created FasterCraft.com. I want to know exactly what I need before I start a project. I don’t want any more guff/guilt from my loved ones. I want to use what I have and make more space. And I want something to show for my hobbies.

Okay, this is totally me!!! I have decided that I need to parcel out specific supplies needed for each craft into a ziploc bag, with labels and instructions/sketches/etc. so I can have everything I need at hand to start a project. Just trying to find the right supplies in my mountainous stash is often what keeps me from starting out a project!
When our children were much younger, my husband made a joke about ‘guerrilla home improvement projects’ – the key was keeping your tool caddy well supplied so you’d be ready to jump into action when you could.
