That’s a (gift) wrap!

Let’s assume for the moment that the gifts have been created or purchased, and you’re free to spend as much time as you want thinking about gorgeous, fancy, creative ways to envelop those hard won gifts in paper and ribbon. Then ask yourself this one question… do you want to spend a lot of time figuring out how to cover a gift in paper that will be torn to shreds within seconds? Do you want to invest your hard won cash in fancy ribbon? Hmm, well, if your answer is yes, well, that’s cool. Good luck with that. (But go easy on the glitter, people don’t want to be unwillingly shiny until New Year’s.)

However, if you are one of those people who wants to have cute/unique/pretty gift wrap, but don’t want to spend an arm, a leg, or a day, you’ve come to the right place.

Personally, I am incredibly excited because I (finally) got my hands on some of that awesome Japanese Masking tape that I’ve been seeing all over the web. I really wanted it for scrapbooking and card-making, but Happy Tape’s blog shows this Martha Stewart article with some great ideas for gift wrapping with masking tape.

If you find yourself pressed for gift wrap materials even more than time, this is a great bow from How About Orange made from magazine pages. This is a great idea to put on gifts for people who value reusing materials.

Kathleen from Twig & Thistle used the magazine bow tutorial above to make felt bows. So cute!

Lupin at Bugs and Fishes has some great ideas for using some of your button stash in gift wrap. (There’s a great idea for a button based gift tag lower down in the post.)
