It goes like this:
- I like paper. I like card making, I like scrapbooking, I like writing, I like origami. I like to fold, spindle, and sometimes even mutilate it. I like to fold it into hearts, mountains, birds, and entertainment for the child sitting in front of me at church.
- I also like digital scrapbooking kits. I like being able to draw, copy, color, and print whatever my heart desires.
- Sometimes I want both.
So what’s a crafter to do? Can the two happily co-exist? Do you feel like I’m maybe being a bit of a dork even asking such silly, obvious questions? Umm, yeah. Sorry about that. I’ll stop being so melodramatic and show you a few hybrid projects that I like:
Deena Rutter as Design House Digital has a set of digital designs for printable boxes, envelopes, and bags that correspond with her Oh Darling line. I love the bag of candy with the topper from the set and the red ribbon bow at the top.
Template for a seed packet from Adobe.com. Sure, you can put actual seeds in this if you want, but it can also make a great container for inspirational thoughts, recipes, breath strips… and the potential for cheesy puns and elegant design are pretty equal.
Card Templates from Simple Scrapper. (I know I’ve mentioned these before, but they are some of my favorites in the field.)
Holly at The Maze of My Imagination made these gorgeous tea towels by printing designs from digital scrapbooking kits on iron-on transfer sheets. So cute!
Oh, one other thing. If you are thinking about trying out digital scrapbooking and want a really comprehensive kit to start with, ScrapOrchard has a new kit called One Love. It’s HUGE, and the proceeds all go to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund.
