I am not mush of a seamstress. Or, I guess I should say that I haven’t yet learned to be much of a seamstress. But I love the idea. I love the thought of creating flowing skirts, sewing shirts precisely proportioned for my parts, and clothing created specifically to my personal standards of modesty and attractiveness (and slimming.)
Yesterday I asked my friend Gordita if she had any advice for me, if I wanted to sew this Amy Butler tunic:
In response she showed me the coolest web site. PatternReview.com is a compilation of user reviews of sewing patterns and sewing machines. For example, you can see the reviews of the above Amy Butler pattern here.
A lot of us work with hand-me-down machines. If this is the case for you, and you’d like to make you’r sewing machine more interesting, check out this great idea from Kerry Lynn at the Hambly creative team, decorating a sewing machine with rub-ons.
