Hello, fellow FasterCrafters. As today is our site launch (the day we start telling other people about this site) I wanted to talk for a moment about what FasterCraft is and how we might all be able to enjoy the holidays a little more this together.

As you’ve probably noticed, our slogan here at FasterCraft is “More Crafting, Less Guilt.” While not everyone will understand what this means, I think that a large number of us understand the overwhelmed feelings that come from wanting to create lots and lots of lovely things without neglecting our families, jobs, passions, and church and volunteer responsibilities.

What we want to do is help you fit your crafting and craft supplies into your lives, and feel good about what comes of them. We want to help you find craft projects that you can squeeze into an evening, and help you get what you need to do them. We present a combination of projects from around the web, our own projects, and advice and tips to help you along the way.

This time of year is a collection of festivals, holidays, and celebrations. There is such a variety! Let’s take Christmas here in the US, as it’s the one I know. Christmas has so many moving parts. You have food, parties, Christmas cards, the gifts, the decorations, and the baking, at minimum. For some Christmas is wholly a religious observance, for some purely secular, and for most of us it’s a blend, mixing messages about Jesus, kindness, love and hope with the fun of Santa Claus, gifts, and relaxing with kin and kindred.

It’s wonderful, heartwarming, and means so much to so many of us. It’s also enough to throw a lot of us into fits at the thought of getting it all done, and especially making it all ourselves. To this end we’ll be bringing you some of the best holiday projects that we find and will do everything we can to give you more time to relax and enjoy the season.

To get your started I’d like to point you at a great project at Pretty Ditty. These yarn or string Christmas trees can by customized to match any decor or color scheme, and they’re a great way to use up odds and ends of yarn, string, or twine.

Love the globe ornaments. I’ve never seen them before.
