in Autumn,In One Evening,Seasonal

Autumn leaves can be so fleeting. One day the trees are the perfect shades of yellow and red, and the next day they’re bare and you’ve got a lot of raking to do. Here are some projects that you can make in one evening that will help you hold on to the colors and create autumn themed decorations.

This is a super simple mobile made of a twig and some leaves:

This first project uses waxed paper, an iron, and a Serger/Overlock sewing machine. It creates a gorgeous garland. If you don’t have a Serger, or don’t want to create a garland you can press the leaves in waxed paper and then frame them, put them in a binder, or put them in a window as a sort of stained glass decoration.

You can also dip leaves in paraffin or beeswax to preserve them. Once you’ve preserved them you can create a mobile, use them as a base for a display, or simply scatter them around:

Here’s another method for waxing leaves by putting them between sheets of beeswax and putting them in the oven:

This is a fun idea that uses leaves, leftover mini pumpkins, and twigs and spray paint. She made hers silver, which is very elegant, but you could also paint them any color that matches your home.
