My irl friends are going to see the title of this post and wonder if I have a recent head injury. How on earth could I write anything about organization?
So that you can understand why I feel so passionate about it right now, I present some photos, untouched:
I think this pile contains picture frames, a shipping box, and a sweater than needs to be taken apart, blocked, and re-finished.
I have lots of excuses, but I do want to offer one right here. In our last apartment all of this stuff fit into my old craft room very comfortably. I had a walk-in closet, the whole room was full of stuff, and yet it was organized, had a place, and looked good. And then we moved. My current craft room is half the size of the old one. We intentionally decided to move into a place less spacious, but I didn’t think about what this would mean for the supplies. I just told myself that somehow it would all fit! It does, but I can’t necessarily move between the stuff.
There are quizzes available online that can help you figure out whether or not you need to get organized, but I suspect you know. And you know where you need to. My living room and bathroom are very clean and organized, my craft supplies are a disaster. Since this is FasterCraft, let’s focus on your crafting supplies/area with a few questions.
- How do you feel when you know that a guest will see the area where you will craft?
- Do you ever buy a craft supply and then get home and realize that you have it already?
- Do you find the duplicate supply a long time later?
- Do you ever find that you can’t use a key piece of furniture (couch, dining room table, bedroom floor, bed) because there are craft supplies on it?
- When you think about your craft supplies and how they are organized are your feelings positive or negative?
- When you think about your craft supplies do you have any negative physical feelings (headaches, stomachaches, dizziness?)
- Have you ever injured yourself stepping over, tripping over, or slipping on a craft supply?
I think you get the idea. This week we’ll be focusing on making the craft supplies and their storage something we feel better about.
